I don't know about anyone else, but as far as diamonds are concerned, I don't really think the size matters. For me, it's the idea and feelings behind the diamonds that really matters. Besides, even if you would get a smaller diamonds engagement ring right now, you can always do an upgrade later on with either more diamonds or a bigger diamond! Frankly, I don't like a diamond that is HUGE, I think this is just plain gaudy! But, if you have one medium sized one or a few small ones such as a band with a few diamonds around it, I think this is stunning.
It really depends on you, what you want, what your girlfriend wants and what you can afford when you buy diamonds online. One thing I can recommend is that you DO shop online rather than offline - have it be for the diamonds themselves or for the white gold diamond engagement rings because you are going to find much cheaper prices than one might think. These products are still of the utmost quality, but the price is something everyone can afford!
As long as you make sure you look for the 4Cs of diamonds (clarity, carat, color and cut), and you make sure the diamond or ring comes with a Certification, the diamonds engagement rings are without a doubt going to be a fine quality product.

I think its worth investing the extra bit to get a genuine vintage engagement ring as it will be worn forever and can even be passed down to your children.
